Palang Pracharat party opens for membership applications
The pro-junta Palang Pracharat Party will begin accepting applications for membership at its head office in Ratchavipha area on Tuesday.
Party secretary-general Sontirat Sontijirawong, who is also commerce minister, said several celebrities from different circles would apply for membership with the party and to contest the election as its candidates. He, however, stressed that the party attached importance to ordinary people who constitute the majority of the population.
He claimed that there would be a “big surprise” when the party unveils its election candidates on November 18 at Shangri La hotel.
He admitted that there was overlapping of constituencies for some candidates that need to be sorted out by means of sounding out the opinions of people in the constituencies after which the party would decide which candidates to be fielded in the problematic areas.
Regarding the party-list candidates, he said a final list of the candidates would be completed pretty soon.
Meanwhile, former spokesman of Chart Thai Pattana Watchara Kannikar said he would apply for membership of Palang Prachart party tomorrow.
