One Redem protester was arrested on Sunday night, following a clash between crowd control police and some hard-core protesters who refused to disperse after the protest in front of the Ratchadapisek Criminal Court in Bangkok.

Pol Col Krisana Pattanacharoen, deputy spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, said Sunday night that some of the Redem protesters threw missiles, including flares, ping-pong bombs and plastic bottles filled with coloured fluid, at crowd control police posted inside the court compound, despite repeated warnings from the police that they were violating the Emergency Decree.

He also alleged that the protesters caused damage to court property.

Protesters from the hard-core Redem group, who are mostly young men, rallied in front of the Criminal Court at about 5.30pm, to demand the release of Ratsadon leaders and followers being held on remand.

Pol Col Krisana said the protest organizers announced an end tothe protest at about 6pm, but some refused to disperse and vandalized the court’s name plate with spray paint and colouredfluid, with some hurling missiles over the wall into the court compound.

At about 8.30pm, police decided to disperse the protesters, using high-pressure water jets, only to be met with firecrackers, ping-pong bombs and flares thrown by the defiant protesters.

Several police officers sustained minor injuries, said the deputy spokesman, adding that one protester, identified as Port Khunapat, was taken into police custody.
