One killed and four injured in chemical explosion in Suvarnabhumi airport’s car park

One person was killed and four others injured in a chemical explosion in a car park at Bangkok’s Suvarnbhumi International Airport today.

The identities of the dead and injured were not yet known at the time of this report, but all of them have been sent to the Sikhirin hospital.

Mr. Suthep Panpeng, managing director of the SRT Electric Train Company, told the media that the explosion occurred as workers were bringing in tanks containing chemicals to replace the old ones at Zone 2 and Zone 3 of the airport’s parking lot.

Pol Col Phichit Aungsupanich, superintendent of Suvarnabhumi police station, said police forensic experts would wait for the chemicals to dissipate before moving in to begin their investigation.
