“Singto,” a member of Thailand’s K9 Urban Search and Rescue team, has died of cancer after 11 years of dedicated service to the organisation, said Alongkot Chukaew, deputy director of K9 USAR Thailand.
Three days ago, despite his illness, K9 Singto participated in promotional photo shoots and fundraising events for the organisation, added Alongkot, who was also the dog’s handler, in an interview with Thai PBS Online.
“I don’t have children and I raised K9 Singto as if he were my own child,” he added.
Alongkot noted that Singto was a very strong dog, always ready to face any challenge, and worked with him through difficult times, such as diving in reservoirs to search for missing persons. He was also a kind dog, beloved by a group of people with visual impairments who came to learn music.
K9 Singto was a Golden Retriever who had been battling cancer for four months and passed away on September 15. Throughout his life, he made significant contributions to K9 USAR Thailand and the Environmental and Social foundation and he will be sorely missed.
