A car owner has filed a complaint with Nonthaburi police, claiming that a steel rod fell from the Pink Monorail line onto his car on Tuesday night, damaging his windshield and a side mirror.
Wari Thanatornnawanrat also informed representatives of the emergency and rescue service group, Sai Mai Tong Rod, about the incident.
He said he was driving in the right lane of Chaengwattana Road, near Muang Thong Thani station, at about 10pm on Tuesday when the rod fell onto his car. It hit the hood before bouncing off and damaging the windscreen and side mirror.
He alerted his car insurance company, whose agent informed him that he is not covered for accidents in which no third party is involved and that he file a complaint with the police.
Wari said that the driver of a car behind him saw the incident and is willing to be a witness. The man is a Highways Department official.
The Pink Line is 34.5km long and has 30 stations, linking Pak Kret in Nonthaburi with the Min Buri district in Bangkok.
It began service in late November last year. In December, a section of metal rail fell from the elevated structure, between Chon Prathan Market and Khae Rai Intersection, onto the road below.
The rail hit and damaged vehicles parked below.
