Panya Yingdang, alias Sia Oun, the prime suspect in the daring murders of a woman and her male companion in Chon Buri on July 29, has been returned to Thailand from Cambodia.

The suspect was reportedly flown in a helicopter from Cambodia’s Prey Veng province to the Police Aviation Division headquarters in Bang Khen district on Tuesday night. He was accompanied by Pol Gen Suchart Theerasawat, a police inspector-general, who had coordinated with Cambodian police for Panya’s repatriation.

Panya reportedly appeared exhausted on his arrival. Handcuffed to the back, he was whisked away in a van to the national police headquarters for detention, pending further interrogation.

He was expected to be questioned by Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, the national police chief.  After that a press briefing on his repatriation would be held.

Panya, 39, is accused of masterminding the murders of Paweena Namuangrak, 20, his former girl friend, and, and Anantachai Jaritram, 21, her male companion, who were gunned down in broad daylight  in a parking lot oppposite Khao Chee Chan mountain cliff in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district on July 29.

He later fled to Cambodia and was arrested by Cambodian police in eastern Prey Veng province while reportedly trying to escape into Vietnam.
