Move Forward party leader formally appointed opposition leader
Move Forward party leader Chaithawat Tulathon has been royally appointed as Thailand’s opposition leader.
Chaithawat said he was informed on Monday, by the secretary-general of the House of Representatives, about the Royal Command appointing him.
A ceremony will be held in parliament on Wednesday at 8.30am, during which Chaithawat will receive the Royal Command in front of a portrait of His Majesty the King. After the ceremony, the new opposition leader will call a meeting with opposition parties, including the Democrats for discussions on how they can work together to keep a check on the government.
