King urges Thais to join him in bringing prosperity to country

His Majesty the King has urged the Thai people to join him in performing their respective duties to bring about prosperity to the country and happiness in society at his first Royal function after being crowned the 10th Monarch of the Chakri dynasty.

The King granted an audience to members of the Royal Family, Privy Council, Cabinet and other dignitaries at the Amarindra Vinicchaya Throne Hall.

As the King was seated on an elevated throne, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, representing the Royal Family, delivered a brief message on their behalf.  The Princess commended the King for his nobility and vowed loyalty toward him and to do their best for the Chakri Dynasty.

Prime Minister Prayut spoke on behalf of the Cabinet, the armed forces, civil servants and the public.  National Legislative Assembly President Pornpetch Wichitcholachit spoke on behalf of the legislative branch while Supreme Court President Cheep Chulamon spoke on behalf of the judiciary.

In his response, the King said he was very pleased to be among the audience representing important institutions of the country and thanked them for their good wishes.

“On this occasion, I invite all of you in this audience, and the Thai people as a whole, to join me in performing our respective duties by upholding the benefits – that is the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people as the paramount objective,” said the King in his message.

After the audience, the King proceeded on a palanquin to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in the Grand Palace to pay homage to the Emerald Buddha and was proclaimed the Royal Patron of Buddhism.

The King travelled on to Prasart Phrathep Bidorn and Dusit Maha Prasart Throne Hall to pay respects to the relics of former kings and queens in the company of Queen Suthida
