A picture of a wild elephant poking its head into the kitchen of a house, in the Thai resort town of Hua Hin, shared online yesterday (Tuesday), has now become a meme in Thailand.

Seen rummaging through the food in the kitchen, thanks to the damaged wall, the elephant was not a first-time visitor.

He had actually destroyed the kitchen wall last month, allowing it to dine “al fresco”.

There is indeed an elephant in the room, but the family living in the house seem unperturbed by their hungry guest.

The iconic picture has now become a meme, with some famous people, including Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his Deputy Prawit Wongsuwan, being photoshopped in to replace the elephant, as if the person has barged through the wall.

Foreign embassies in Bangkok also took the opportunity to promote their countries and policies. The UK used a London double-decker bus to promote its environmental campaign, Australia promotes vegemite and Sweden used a picture of a footballer to promote the EURO 2020 game with Poland tonight (Wednesday).
