Friend in Need (of PA) Volunteers Foundation donates B2m to Lao flood victims

Princess Soamsawali and her daughter HRH Princess Bajarakitiyabha have instructed the Friend in Need (of PA) Volunteers Foundation of the Thai Red Cross to donate 2 million baht and 1,000 survival kits to Lao people affected by flooding caused by the collapse of Xe Pian-Xe Namnoy dam in Attapeu province of Laos.

A ceremony to hand over the donations will be held today at the Lao embassy in Bangkok.

Adisak Panuwong, Sorachak Kasemsuwan and Thitiwat Wongwannakul will represent the foundation in handing over the donations to Seng Soukhathivong, the Lao ambassador to Thailand.

Meanwhile, Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya, chair of the To Be Number One Foundation, has also assigned Boonruang Trairuangworarat, director-general of the Mental Health Department, to deliver a cash donation to the Lao ambassador in the name of the foundation.

Meanwhile, agencies under the Transport Ministry have prepared about 10,000 sets of survival necessities for the Lao flood victims. The relief supplies will be transported on 20 trucks manned by 50 officials, along with five boats. They are scheduled to depart from the highway office in Ubon Ratchathani province Thursday afternoon.

Moreover, teams of officials from the Transport Ministry will also be dispatched to examine damage made by the flooding on roads, bridges and other infrastructure for restoration work.

The Thai Public Broadcasting Service, operator of ThaiPBS television station, has invited members of the public to make donations for the flood victims through its Krungthai Bank through account number 071-015-6235.
