A non-commissioned police officer was arrested this morning after allegedly shooting dead a French tourist at a doughnut stall in a condominium off Sukhumvit Road on Tuesday night.

Pol Snr Sgt-Maj Kantapong Huadsri, a unit commander of Lumpini police, was also immediately dismissed from duty after he turned himself in and confessed to the shooting.

The incident took place in front of a doughnut stall in a condominium in Sukhumvit Soi 13.

Initial report said that Kantapong had earlier had a quarrel and engaged in a fist fight with the French tourist at a store in Sukhumvit Soi 11/1.

After the scuffle, the French tourist reportedly returned to Trendy condominium where he was reportedly staying. Kantapong admitted that he followed the victim to the condominium and shot him.

Police said Kantapong later turned himself in and they are looking for another suspect who was seen with the policeman during the incident.  Lumpini police said they are investigating the motive of the murder.
