Four members of security forces injured in two explosions in Yala

Four members of the Thai security forces were wounded in two separate bomb attacks by southern insurgents in Bannang Sata district of the southern province of Yala last night.

At about 7pm, insurgents threw a pipe bomb into a para military ranger checkpoint, wounding three of them.

In the second incident, a grenade, fired from an M79 grenade launcher by insurgents, hit a defence volunteer outpost wounding one volunteer.

All the injured were rushed to Yala provincial hospital.

It is reported that a third explosion occurred at a road intersection in a village in the same district, but there have been no reports of casualties in that incident

After the attacks, as a precautionary measure, police deployed to all check points across Yala province were put on alert and ordered to intensify checks of all vehicles entering their towns.
