Former Democrat party-list MP and party executive member Mallika Boonmeetrakool Mahasook has announced her resignation from the party, to spend more time in private and on her foundation, Mallika for the People.

The veteran politician announced her resignation during her nightly live talk show on the TikTok social media platform, which has about 118,000 followers and claims more than 1.5 million views.

She said that she would assign someone to take her letter of resignation to the Democrat party today (Thursday), adding that she does not have an issue with anyone in the party.

During her talk show last night, she jokingly said that she is now exercising in the gym every day to lose weight, because she wants to enter a beauty contest before she is too old.

She said she has learned that there is a beauty contest which does not bar mature women or those who are married, as long as they are beautiful.
