The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is inviting everyone in Bangkok to join Earth Hour 2025 tomorrow, by turning off their lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
People in about 7,000 cities in 190 countries are expected to take part this year.
This year, the BMA has requested cooperation from many city landmarks by switching off their lights for the hour, including the Emerald Buddha Temple, the Grand Palace, the Temple of Dawn, the Giant Swing, Rama VIII Bridge and the Temple of the Golden Mount in Bangkok.
Bangkok’s 50 district offices have also asked businesses in their jurisdictions to take part.
The objectives of the campaign include raising public awareness about climate change. The Earth Hour website encourages people to create “the Biggest Hour for Earth” this year.
During last year’s Earth Hour, the world contributed more than 1.4 million hours of saved electricity. The first Earth Hour took place in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, with more than 2.2 million people turning off their lights for an hour.
