The Finance Ministry will consult the economic stimulation committee over the second phase disbursement of 10,000 baht cash benefits to another 26 million subscribers to the “digital wallet” scheme. More than 100 billion baht has already been distributed to 12.19 million disabled people and state welfare card holders since September 25.
Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat said today that there are 319,000 people among disabled people and welfare card holders who are yet to receive the cash due to technical problems, such as their bank accounts being closed for lack of transaction activity.
He advised them to contact their banks by October 18, as the Comptroller Department will begin transferring money again on October 22.
The last group of welfare card holders, with ID card numbers ending in 8 or 9, will receive their payments after midnight on Monday.
Julapun said the Finance Ministry and the economic stimulation committee, chaired by the prime minister, will discuss the option, for the remaining 26 million subscribers, of transferring two payments of 5,000 baht each, to ease financial risk.
Meanwhile, Deputy Finance Minister Paopoom Rojanasakul disclosed that, on September 25 alone, cash withdrawals from Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives’ (BAAC) ATMs increased 18.8 fold, compared to the previous day.
Cash withdrawals from Government Savings Bank’s ATMs on September 25 almost doubled, compared to those on September 24.
