Thailand’s economic ministers approved the Finance Ministry’s economic stimulus package today. The measures include a 1,000 baht cash handout for two consecutive months, to be wired directly into the bank accounts of low-income earners, farmers and independent professionals.

Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana said that the exact number of people eligible to receive the handout is still being worked out.

The new economic stimulus package is intended to help cushion the impacts of the economic downturn and coronavirus infection on all sectors of society.

The package will be submitted to the cabinet next Tuesday for final endorsement.
