Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has asked Deputy Finance Minister Krisada Chinavicharana to reconsider his decision to resign, a well-informed source said today.

Krisada Chinavicharana has already submitted his resignation letter to new Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira. The source says that he was unhappy with the new assignments for the three deputy finance ministers.

Previously, Srettha, the prime minister, held the position of finance minister as well, and the ministry had two deputies, namely Jullapong Amornvivat and Krisada.

Krisada oversaw major offices, such as Revenue and Excise Departments, as well as the Comptroller General Department and Government Lottery Office.

The recent cabinet reshuffle saw Pichai become the minister, and Paopoom Rojanasakul was added as a third deputy finance minister. The resulting reassignment of duties left Krisada only overseeing the Public Debt Management Office and other minor departments.

Krisada has already returned the government vehicle assigned to him.

Meanwhile, Akaradej Wongpitakroj, spokesman for the United Thai Nation party, revealed that Krisada has already resigned from the United Thai Nation party. The spokesman quoted Krisada, the chairman of the party’s strategy committee, as claiming that he wishes to focus on his businesses.
