Workpoint Entertainment issued a statement yesterday, saying it has suspended, with immediate effect, all appearances of Kan Kantathavorn as host of any of their television programs until his alleged involvement with the iCon Group business is cleared up.
Kan also said in his Facebook post that he had offered to end his role as host and moderator of all television programs.
Meanwhile, the iCon Group, a high-profile e-commerce business which has hires celebrities to promote its products, issued a statement yesterday insisting that Yuranunt Pamornmontri, Kan Kantathavorn and Peechaya Wattanamontree are neither shareholders in the company nor executives authorised to act on behalf of the firm and that they just assist the company’s marketing activities, while Pakorn Chatborirak and Pakorn Lam are brand ambassadors.
Some 80 investors have filed complaints with the police’s Consumer Protection Division against iCon Group, claiming that they have lost a total of 31 million baht as dealers in the company’s products. They have been interviewed by the police.
All claimed that they had initially taken a course in online business, provided by the company. They were then persuaded to invest in the company by becoming product dealers or agents, with promises of good returns.
