Well-known TV host Kan Kantathavorn has been dealt another blow, as the Thai Broadcasting Company, which is affiliated with Workpoint Entertainment, terminated their contract with the celebrity.
No reason was made public for the termination, but it came several hours after arrest warrants were issued, by the Central Investigation Bureau, for 18 executives and key members of the iCon Group, including Kan, Peechaya Wattanamontree and Yuranunt Pamornmontri.
All have initially been charged with defrauding the public and violations of the Computer Crime Act.
Today, officials from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) conducted a field inspection of three plots of land covering over 10.88 hectares, located along the motorway in Lam Luk Ka district of Pathum Thani. They had been purchased by companies affiliated with the iCon Group, allegedly with money received from investors.
DSI Acting Director-General Yutthana Praedam said today that the land is estimated to be worth several hundred million baht and the intention was to developed an online learning centre there, named the “iCon City”, which would include a conference hall, a learning centre and a housing estate for top executives.
He said that the DSI will propose that the Anti-Money Laundering Office impound the land.
