Two Chinese nationals filed a complaint with Bangkok’s Sutthisan police Sunday night, claiming that they had been kidnapped by five armed men who demanded over twenty three million baht in ransom.
The two men also presented a video clip to the police, from a CCTV system at a rented house in Ratchada Soi 24, Huai Khwang district, featuring his four alleged captors.
A friend of the two victims told the police that the alleged abduction occurred at about 4pm on Saturday, when two Chinese and three Burmese nationals came to the rented house, which is also an office, and demanded 3.2 million baht in cash from the victims plus another 600,000 US dollars to be transferred to a specified bank account.
The victims did not have all the money and were forced into a car and driven to Nakhon Nayok province.
The victims managed to borrow US$270,000 from some Chinese friends and had them transfer it to the bank account, before they were released from the car on the Nawamin Road in Bangkok.
After receiving the complaint, Pol Col Pornthep Chalermkiat, superintendent of Sutthisan police, sent officers to the victims’ rented house to collect more evidence. An officer was also sent to provide temporary protection for the two victims
