Thailand Consumers Council announced today that it will accompany some OPPO and Realme smartphone users to the Central Investigation Bureau to file complaints against OPPO Thailand for alleged infringement of privacy and overcharging of interest on loans.
Today, executives of OPPO Thailand offered a formal apology for the problems caused by the pre-installation of the “Fineasy” loan application on OPPO and Realme smartphones.
Chanon Jirayukul, an OPPO senior executive officer, said that the company has stopped the pre-installation of the app since January 14 and sent an over the air (OTA) update to all its smartphones to remove the “Fineasy” loan application yesterday. It expects the correction process to be completed by January 27.
He also said that new OPPO phone models have already been upgraded and are free of loan applications, adding that the company has opened a hotline (1800-019-097) to provide assistance to phone users who are affected by the offending application(s).
