Two bomb attacks in Narathiwat province this morning disrupted the application process for senatorial candidates, which commenced today.

In Cho-airong district, the explosion was triggered near a communications tower, affecting the internet signal.

As a result, three people who went to the Cho-airong district office to apply for candidacy could not do so. They were asked to return when internet connectivity has been restored.

people in Cho-airong had asked for application forms prior to the opening date and hopefuls have until this Friday to apply.

The attacks in Cho-airong forced security officials to block main roads in the district, including those leading to the district office, resulting in senatorial hopefuls taking longer to arrive.

The improvised explosive device (IED) in Cho-airong injured five security volunteers, while the one in Sukhirin injured three.
