Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai has announced the postponement of its three-day "Music in the Garden" event, originally scheduled to start tomorrow, following a massive fire yesterday.
The rescheduling is for safety reasons and the event will now take place from May 1-4.
The area engulfed by the night time blaze was not, however, part of the event venue and is not connected to the Dhara Dhevi Market.
Police are still investigating the cause of the fire, which destroyed seven buildings in the old spa area. The buildings had reportedly been out of service for some time, with the electricity supply disconnected.
It is also reported that Dhara Dhevi, the former 123-room iconic hotel of Chiang Mai province, does not have fire insurance.
The business, which began hotel operations in 2004, was severely impacted by an economic downturn and the COVID-19 outbreak, leading to its closure in 2020, followed by bankruptcy and liquidation, with the hotel listed at a starting price of 2.116 billion baht.
The company has also been involved in ongoing legal disputes between former shareholders.
