Thailand’s tallest waterfall, Thi Lo Su in the Umphang district of the western province of Tak, has been closed to visitors temporarily, after a flash flood and mudslides swept into a nearby camping ground following torrential rainfall.
Officials of the Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary said that the waterfall will be reopened when situation has returned to normal.
Meanwhile, in the north-eastern Nakhon Phanom province, which was hit by tropical storm Soulik last week, the provincial administration has declared seven districts to be public disaster zones. About 14,400 hectares of farmland, mostly in the Si Songkhram district, are flooded and 250 houses have been damaged by flooding.
A relief centre has been set up in the province to coordinate the delivery of relief supplies to flood victims, including feed for livestock.
In the Chiang Khan district of Loei province, the depth of the Mekong River on Sunday was measured at 11.14 metres, which is about 4.86 metres below its banks.
