The Cabinet agreed today to extend the electricity price reduction retroactively, from January until April, for 21.3 million households which consume fewer than 300 units per month.
The discount, of 16.05 satang per unit, originally expired at the end of December.
Three types of households will benefit, including those which are supplied by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority or the Provincial Electricity Authority, those supplied by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and consumers who rely power supplied by the Royal Thai Navy.
The reduction will cost the taxpayer 1.7 billion baht, to be allocated from the Central Fund.
