The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has launched a campaign urging “Loy Krathong” revellers not to use “krathongs” made of bread or Styrofoam and to use those made of natural materials, like corn husk, banana trunk or leaves, to protect the environment.

TAT expects Loy Krathong festival to generate Bt6.9 billion in revenue

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) estimates that the Loy Krathong festival, on November 15th, will generate about Bt6.9 billion baht in revenue across the country, about a 12% increase on last year, with the northern provinces being the favourite destinations for Thai tourists.

Airborne PM2.5 dust in 35 areas of Bangkok were measured this morning at 7am. The levels were found to exceed the 37.5 micron per cubic metre (µg/m³) standard level, according to the Air Quality Information Centre of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
