By the time registration ended yesterday, 113,859 informal debtors had registered seeking government help to mediate their combined 7.35 billion baht in debt to 84,313 informal lenders.

According to Interior Permanent Secretary Suttipong Juljarern, officials have already mediated settlement agreements for 933 borrowers, amounting to 131 million baht, and have taken legal action against creditors in 25 cases, in which agreement could not be reached.

98,595 applied online for help and the rest showed up in person at district offices to register.

The provinces with the highest number of registered borrowers are Bangkok (7,119 borrowers with debts of 622 million), Nakhon Si Thammarat (4,839 borrowers with debts of 310.2 million baht), Songkhla (4,493 borrowers with debts of 290 million baht), Nakhon Ratchasima (4,346 borrowerswith debts of 333.8 million baht) and Khon Kaen (3,020 borrowers with debts of 231.6 million baht).

The fewest applications were in Mae Hong Son (168 borrowers owing 8.8 million baht to 138 lenders), Ranong (235 borrowers owing 17 million baht to 154 money), Samut Songkhram (305 borrowers owing 9.7 million baht to 219 lenders), Trat (376 borrowers owing 15 million baht to 260 lenders) and Sing Buri (406 borrowers owing 19.6 million baht to 274 lenders).

Nakhon Sawan had the most cases entering the mediation process (1,138) and 22 cases with 88.9 million baht in debts have been resolved.
