New COVID-19 infections in Thailand increased by 102 today, after six days of steady decline to yesterday’s 89, bringing total infections in the country to 2,169 to date.
The death toll increased by three to 23, while full recoveries rose to 674, with 1,472 patients still in hospital.
One of the three fatalities was a 46-year old Thai man, who had returned from a visit to the UK. The second, an 82-year old Swiss man, who had heart disease and high blood pressure, attended a party at a housing estate in Hua Hin and visited an entertainment venue in the Sukhumvit area about two weeks ago. The third was a 30-year old Thai construction worker in Surin province, who had a history of regular drinking.
CCSA spokesman Dr. Thaveesilp Wissanuyothin said that all 158 Thais who returned from abroad recently, but refused to enter official quarantine facilities, have now reported to authorities.
He also said that 51 Thais, returning from Malaysia, and 47 returning Qatar last night (Saturday), have entered quarantine at a state designated hotel in Bangkok.
Since the 10pm-4am curfew was imposed last Friday, 325 violators have been prosecuted and 375 were given warnings.
