Forty-five out of Bangkok’s 50 districts are covered by an excessive amount of PM2.5 dust today, exceeding the 37.5 micron (µg/m³) standard level, the Air Quality information Centre of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration announced today.
The 12 districts most affected are:
• Bang Rak, 55.3µg/m³
• Sathorn, 54.6µg/m³
• Lat Krabang, 54.6µg/m³
• Nong Khaem, 53µg/m³
• Ratchathewi, 52.4µg/m³
• Pathumwan, 51.9µg/m³
• Taling Chan, 51.4µg/m³
• Klong Sam Wa, 50.3µg/m³
• Tawee Wattana, 50.3µg/m³
• Bang Khor Laem, 50µg/m³
• Bang Phlat, 49.7µg/m³
• Phasi Charoen, 49.2µg/m³
The Air Quality Information Centre said that air quality in Bangkok and its suburbs is forecast to deteriorate and will pose a threat to health, as it advised people to wear face masks when they are out-doors and to spend less time exercising or performing other activities outdoors.
Vulnerable people or those at high-risk are advised to wear face masks every time they step outside.
