Bangkok police have arrested an Israeli man who allegedly filmed sexual encounters with Thai women without their consent at his rented condominium in the Huai Khwang area.
Police believe he met the women through a dating app and invited them to eat cake that may have been laced with a sedative or other psychoactive substance.
A Thai woman, who was allegedly involved in drug trafficking, was also arrested after police found 15 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, 50 small plastic bags, a weighing machine and a cake in the room.
Police said the suspect allegedly lured women to his room through the dating app and persuaded them to eat the cake without knowing that it may have contained a sedative. He allegedly used his mobile phone to record their sexual encounters without their consent.
Several video clips of sexual encounters were reportedly found on his phone.
Pol Maj-Gen Thiradet Thumsutee, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said on Saturday that immigration authorities had found the suspect had overstayed his visa by 2,095 days.
He added that the 54-year-old suspect, identified as “Tomer”, had no known occupation or business in Thailand and spent most of his time in the rented room. However, he appeared to have money to spend daily, and women were frequently seen entering and leaving the room, he said.
The Israeli man denied ownership of the drugs found in the room and allegedly claimed that “influential people” would help secure his release. He also allegedly threatened that the officers who arrested him would all be transferred, according to a police officer.
Both the Israeli man and the Thai woman were taken to Huai Khwang Police Station for questioning and detention.
