A Hong Kong Chinese man has been arrested in his rented house in the Rom Klao area of Bangkok after Thai police searched the house and found 350kg of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) with a street value of about 700 million baht.
The suspect was identified by Thai police only as “Huang”, aged 26.
Police said that undercover officers had been monitoring the house for a couple of days because suspicious activities had been noticed. They said that the house was used as a place to vacuum pack the illegal narcotics for shipment abroad.
Inside the house, police found the Ice in the forms of powder and rock. Packing machinery and cardboard boxes were also found.
Thai police said the suspect entered Thailand from Malaysia on the 14th of this month and rented the house. Two days later he received the drug consignment for packaging to be shipped abroad.
Hong Kong police said the suspect was jailed for 42 months on charge of money laundering and was released from prison in August. They allege that he is connected with a scam network in Hong Kong.
Huang was charged with narcotics possession for trafficking and sent to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further questioning to determine his connections in Thailand.
