The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has issued an urgent notice urging people in the city, who visited six markets in Bang Khae district between February 20th and March 13th, to contact the city’s health office, via its hotline 02-203-2396, immediately for COVID-19 screenings or log into http//bkkcovid.bangkok.go.th/.
If the system identifies you as being among the high-risk group, city officials will contact you as soon as possible.
The virus alert came after it was discovered that 80 visitors to the six markets, namely Siriseththanon or Saeng Fah, Soon Kankha Bang Khae, Kitti, Pasom, Mai Bang Khae and Wonder, have tested positive for COVID-19. All were asymptomatic.
Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang, accompanied by health officials, visited Bang Khae district on Saturday to observe pro-active screening operations at the Ban King community in Petkasem Soi 69 and at Khlong Kwang fresh market, where about 300 vendors were given COVID-19 tests.
About 1,400 saliva samples were also taken at the markets, which were sent to the Medical Sciences Department for analysis.
In the meantime, the public relations office in Nakhon Pathom and the Nonthaburi COVID-19 information centre have separately issued urgent notices for people in the two provinces, who have visited the six markets in Bang Khae district of Bangkok, to report to their nearest hospitals for COVID-19 screening.
