Thai PM Srettha Thavisin has offered to organise a friendly match between legends of two popular Premier League football teams: Liverpool and Manchester United.

He pitched the idea during a meeting with legends from his favourite team, Liverpool, at Government House on Friday. According to Srettha, they liked the idea.

Among the visitors were Michael Owen, Steve McManaman and Robbie Fowler.

“As a fan of the Liverpool team for as long as I can remember, I was very excited and happy to meet their legendary players,” he wrote on his X account.

He found chatting with them about football enjoyable and proposed Thailand as the venue for a friendly match between Liverpool and Manchester United.

Srettha was presented with a Liverpool team jersey bearing his name “S. Thavisin” and the number 30, symbolizing his position as the 30th prime minister of Thailand, printed on the back.

Srettha told reporters after the meeting that the Liverpool side agreed to the offer, expressing their willingness to come and even to extend their stay in Thailand after the match.

The discussion also included ways to collaborate with Liverpool on the development of Thai football, both at the youth and professional levels.
