A security guard, thought to be suffering from COVID-19, was found dead on Sunday in his rented room in Bangkok’s Din Daeng area.

Huai Khwang police said they found a small plastic bag containing the Molnupiravir anti-viral medicine and a positive ATK test kit in the room in Pracha Songkroh Soi 24.

The owner of building said that, at about 7pm on Saturday night, he heard a heavy thud, like something crashing to the floor, and asked what was going on.

He said the man responded, saying he was fine but, in the morning, he found the man’s lifeless body and alerted the police.

Police said that there was no ID card on the body, adding that they would have to wait until the victim’s relatives arrive.

According to police, the victim had been staying in the rented room for about five years and he worked as a security guard.

EMTs from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, in full protective suits, took the body to Ramathibodi Hospital for an autopsy.

The Disease Control Department reported today (Monday) that 4,914 people were found to have COVID-19 and hospitalised between November 20^th and 26^th. Of these, 553 are suffering from lung infections and 319 of them are on ventilators.

COVID-19 related deaths during the same period averaged 10 per day. Total deaths this year are 11,482.
