Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit said Friday night that he did not believe that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, will be able to guide Thailand into the future because of the government’s abstract policy statement, which lacks vision and energy.
Thanathorn went to parliament late Friday night to offer moral support to his party’s MPs on the second day of the debate on the government’s policy statement. He is not allowed to take part in the debate because of the Constitutional Court’s order suspending him from performing the duty as an MP.
The fiery Future Forward party leader said he didn’t think the Thai people will see educational, land, bureaucratic or social security reforms and decentralization take place under the current government because the 19 coalition parties do not share a common ideology.
He criticized the Prime Minister, saying that, in the past two days, he had witnessed the latter’s lack of leadership and self-control.
Thanathorn praised his party’s MPs for their constructive speeches and urged them to continue their good work.
He said he wanted to tell parliament that Thailand needs a lot of reforms and major changes, noting that the country has the capacity to advance.
