Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said today that the official visit to China, from today through next Monday, by Their Majesties the King and Queen is the first by a Thai Monarch in over 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He said that the official visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen, on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, will further cement the relationship between the two countries. In fact, relations between the two countries date back several centuries.
The prime minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow have been invited to join Their Majesties’ as ‘honorary ministers’.
Anutin explained that, according to normal practice, a cabinet minister will accompany Their Majesties’ on a foreign visit as ‘honorary minister’ and, this time, he and Sihasak have been invited.
He said that he will not have any business appointments or engagements during the visit, and will purely serve a member of Their Majesties’ entourage.
