The government’s draft entertainment complex bill will be debated in parliament this Thursday, a week sooner than expected.
This evening, the House of Representatives website shows the draft bill on the agenda for Thursday’s House meeting, together will four other bills proposed by the cabinet.
Parliamentary sources say that the Thursday meeting is usually reserved for the deliberation of motions, interpellations or reports produced by various House standing committees.
The inclusion of the entertainment complex bill in the Thursday’s agenda is a “special case”, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a group of academics and students, led by Associate Professor Dr Chittawan Chanakul from the Faculty of Economics at Kasetsart University, will submit a letter, in protest against the entertainment complex bill, to House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha at 10am on Wednesday.
