Outgoing Vice Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangkhetkeow is among the five Thai recipients of the spring decorations from the Imperial Palace this week, according to an informed diplomatic source.

He will be awarded “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” for his invaluable contribution to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendship between Japan and Thailand. Sihasak was also a former ambassador to Japan.

The conferment will take place on May 9 at the Imperial Palace. Emperor Naruhito will preside over the ceremony.

Sihasak has submitted his letter of resignation, effective on the 13th May after he returns from Japan. During his tenure, he has assisted former Deputy Prime Ministera and Foreign Minister Pranpree Bahindra-Nukara on conducing the country’s diplomacy in promote Thailand’s regional and international profile, especially on regional issues including Myanmar and Asean.

Four other Thai personalities also received the decoration also included Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, former transportation and finance minister, who is awarded “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” for his role in strengthening bilateral relation between Japan and Thailand in the field of transport.
