No injuries after planes collide on ground at Tokyo’s Haneda airport

Some flights were delayed at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Saturday (June 10) after two passenger planes collided on the ground near a taxiway, Japan’s public broadcaster NHK reported, citing Japan’s transport ministry.

Footage from the scene showed the two Airbus A330 aircraft stopped side-by-side at the scene of the accident, before the jet belonging to Taiwan’s EVA Air was towed away.

No injuries occurred, NHK said, but the incident led to the closure of one of four runways at the airport at about 11 a.m. (0200 GMT). The runway later reopened.

The EVA Air and Thai Airways jets had been due to depart Tokyo for Taipei and Bangkok respectively.
