Two more bodies were extracted from the debris in Zone C of the collapsed SAO building yesterday evening, while Bang Sue police continue to interrogate witnesses, the injured, relatives of the dead, officials of the State Audit Office and representatives of the contractors.
According to the police, 117 people have been questioned, but the process ongoing.
To date, 42 bodies have been identified and 50 other people are still listed as missing, according to Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat, deputy commissioner of Metropolitan Police.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, who visited the site last night, said workers, with the help of heavy machinery, have managed to reduce the height of the debris to 13 metres, from the original 25 metres, adding that the work will continue until the site is cleared.
Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp said that police are still unable to pinpoint those responsible for the deadly collapse of the building.
He added that police are currently questioning those involved in the construction, such as the engineers responsible for the design of the building, those responsible for supervising the construction work and those who approved the designs for the building.
