Monet and Impressionist artists immortalized in Bangkok exhibition

In what promises to be a real feast for the eyes, the newly opened digital immersive exhibition “Monet & Friends Alive Bangkok” brings the best impressionist artworks by Claude Monet and other prominent artists of the era to the Attraction Hall on the 6th floor of ICONSIAM in the Thai capital.

The exhibition, which continues through January 7, 2024,  showcases 3,500 artworks of Claude Monet, one of the world’s most influential French Impressionist artists, alongside contributions from 14 other talented painters including Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne and Edgar Degas. The artworks are integrated on the theme “An Immersive Adventure into French Impressionism”, and promise visitors a fully immersive multi-sensory experience.

Brought to Thailand by Grande Experiences, “Monet & Friends Alive Bangkok” follows the success of the previous immersive exhibition “Van Gogh Alive Bangkok” by the same producer, which partnered with Live Impact Events. This digital immersive art exhibition delivers an unparalleled fusion of entertainment and artistic wonder, transporting visitors into the captivating virtual world of 19th-century Impressionist art on over 4,000 square metres.

The exhibition allows visitors to engage with the artwork through the senses of sight, taste, smell, and sound in a truly magnificent fashion. Enveloped by the dynamic interplay of light, colour and sound, the exhibition breathes life into the masterpieces of these Impressionist artists, projecting their stunning paintings onto an enormous screen.

The highlights of exhibition include:

● “An Epic Adventure into Art with Fifteen Impressionist Masters”, a showcase delivered through a new presentation format using modern technology that can connect viewers’ emotions to the artists’ experiences more vividly. “Monet & Friends Alive” pays homage to Claude Monet and numerous other Impressionist painters from the mid-19th to the early 20th century.

It not only showcases their artistic works but also delves into the historical movements of the Impressionist era amidst the social and political turbulence of the time. It takes visitors on a journey back in time to the transformation of European art in a spectacular exhibition filled with the power of light, color, and sound. It brings the masterpieces of Impressionist artists to life, projecting their remarkable paintings on large screens, revealing the depth of brushwork of artists like Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Cézanne, Degas, and many more.

● “World-Class Impressionist Immersive Exhibition” draws inspiration from significant periods of change in European art, transporting viewers to the ambience of the mid-19th century and drawing them into their world. Through the harmonious melodies of classical compositions by Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, and Offenbach, “Monet & Friends Alive” creates a virtual experience that stimulates all the senses.

This show presents over 3,500 digitalised Impressionist artworks with high-definition projectors, featuring a massive 1,600 square meters of virtual world simulation, the largest in Thailand, within an exhibition space covering more than 4,000 square metres.

  • “A fresh approach to art, science and culture”: Over 40+ Display, Interactive, and Education Experiences” Within the “Monet & Friends Alive” exhibition, the Monet Garden, spanning over 2,000 square meters, brings the ambience of Monet’s art to life.

Art lovers can delight in the “Japanese” bridges from Monet’s famous paintings, beloved by travellers worldwide. The Water Lily mirror room, showcased within a glass room alongside a pond of exquisite water lilies, transports the visitor to an underwater world akin to a dream. Furthermore, it offers an opportunity to experience the techniques of Impressionist artists by using AI technology to create visitors’ personal sketches of a masterpiece and Impressionist-style portraits.

And for those who do not want to leave the art behind, souvenirs are available from a shop inside the exhibition.
