House speaker waits for full text of Constitutional Court’s ruling on Move Forward

House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha said today that he is not sure yet whether the Constitutional Court’s ruling will bar parliament from debating the lèse majesté issue, as he is waiting for the full text of the court’s ruling.

He said that parliament has a rule that MPs are barred from referring to outsiders or the monarchy during their debates in the parliament.

The court has ruled Move Forward’s campaign to amend the lèse majesté law constitutes a bid to topple Constitutional Monarchy and ordered the party to cease all activities related.
