The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has impounded assets worth about 159 million baht belonging to Kla Tham party MP Chonnapat Naksua and his associates for allegedly operating three gambling websites and other online gambling systems.
Wittaya Nititham, assistant secretary-general of AMLO, said yesterday that they, and relevant agencies, have investigated the financial transactions of the suspects and found sufficient evidence to substantiate charges that they have been involved in g illegal online gambling activities.
He said the transactions board of AMLO, at its latest meeting, resolved to impound the assets, for 90 days initially.
The assists include cash, several cars, land title deeds, shares and money in bank accounts worth an estimated 159 million baht.
He said the suspects have, however, the right to appeal against the board’s decision within 30 days of formally being notified of the seizure of their assets.
