Bangkok’s Yellow Line train service starts charging passengers Monday

After a month-long free trial, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is charging passengers for the use of the Yellow Line monorail train system, connecting Lat Phrao with Samrong in Samut Prakan, starting today (Monday).

The fares are from 15 baht to 45 baht, covering 23 stations.

Commuters have the option to pay using their credit cards, Rabbit cards or cash (for single journeys) at the stations.

There are two parking lots for motorists using the Yellow Line service, one at the Lat Phrao station and the other at Wat Sri Iam. Parking fees are 15 baht per two hours at Lat Phrao station and 5 baht per hour at Wat Sri Iam.

Also starting today, the MRTA is collecting parking fees at the Khu Khot and Khor Por Or parking lots from motorists using the Green Line train from Mor Chit to Khu Khot. The parking fees are 10 baht for two hours for cars and five baht for four hours for motorcycles.

Those who park their vehicles without using the train service will be charged 20 baht per hour for cars and 10 baht per hour for motorcycles.

Motorists or motorcyclists also have the option to pay parking fees on a monthly basis for parking at Khu Khot or Khor Por Or stations, by paying 1,000 baht per month for cars and 500 baht for motorcycles. The parking lots are open from 5am until 1am of the next day.
