Student hairstyle regulation ruled unconstitutional

The Supreme Administrative Court ruled today that the Ministry of Education’s ‘Regulation 2’ regarding student’s hairstyles, issued in 1975 in line with ‘Announcement 132’ of the Revolutionary Council, is inappropriate and unconstitutional, because it infringes on students’ bodily autonomy.

Bangkok Airways to suspend flights to Mae Hong Son due to haze

The haze problem in Thailand’s northern and north-eastern provinces, caused by wild fires, is increasing, forcing Bangkok Airways, a domestic airline, to suspend flights on the Suvarnabhumi-Lampang-Mae Hong Son route between March 15th and April 20th.

Religious holiday alcohol sale ban stays, except ……

The National Alcoholic Beverage Policy Committee has decided to retain the ban on sales of alcohol on the major religious holidays of Magha Puja, Visakha Pucha, Asalha Puja, the start of Buddhist Lent and the end of Buddhist Lent, according to Minister of Digital Economy and Society Prasert Chantararuangthong.

Court accepts class action against CPF for damage caused by Blackchin tilapia

The Bangkok South Civil Court decided today to accept a class action lawsuit filed against Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF), a unit of the Charoen Pokphand Group, by a group of fishermen and fish farmers in Samut Songkhram province, demanding a compensation of 2.5 billion baht for the damage caused by the proliferation of Blackchin tilapia fish.

Minister orders probe into illegal sale of state land meant for landless farmers

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Chalermchai Srion has ordered the director-general of Forest Department to have all provincial governors check whether any of the 80,000 hectares (500,000 rai) of state land distributed the landless poor have been sold illegally to private companies or to nominees of Chinese investors.
