The Floral Fair at Rama IX Park is not just a visual feast but also an olfactory symphony that captivates the senses from the moment you step through its gates.

This year’s fair highlights meticulously curated floral displays that showcase the diversity of flora from across the globe. An exceptional feature of the event is the captivating showcase of tulip gardens.

Wandering through fields in a riot of colour, you might wonder how tulips, typically associated with colder climates like the Netherlands, thrive in a hot zone. Remarkably, the tulip flowers on display at the Floral Fair at Rama IX Park are presented and cultivated by PTTLNG, a global leader in natural gas energy production.

During the conversion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from liquid to gas, a substantial amount of cold air is released. Previously, this by-product was discharged into the sea. However, adopting a zero-waste mindset, PTTLNG ingeniously repurposes the cold air as a greenhouse, creating an optimal environment for cultivating cold-climate flowers such as tulips and hydrangeas.

Beyond the visual and aromatic allure, the Floral Fair is a cultural celebration, reflecting the rich tapestry of Thai traditions. Local artisans and craftsmen showcase their skills, offering handmade floral-themed souvenirs and trinkets. Traditional Thai music and dance performances add a cultural flair to the festivities, creating an atmosphere that is entertaining yet reverent.

Food enthusiasts will find themselves spoiled for choice with the fair’s culinary offerings. A variety of food stalls line the pathways, offering a delectable array of local and international cuisines. As the winter sun sinks low in the sky, the enchantment of the Floral Fair undergoes a captivating metamorphosis. The “night bloomers” garden, featuring spider lily (Phab Phueng), Siamese radia (Khad Khao), orange jessamine (Kaew), and bread flower (Chom Ma Nard), casts a spell on the park, transforming it into an ethereal wonderland.

Illuminated pathways adorned with soft, ambient lighting guide visitors through this nocturnal sanctuary. The deep fragrances from the night-blooming flowers create a sensory spell, casting a gentle glow on the blossoms that come alive beneath the twilight sky. It’s a surreal and magical experience, akin to stepping into a dreamscape where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur.

For those with a penchant for horticulture, the fair offers a series of informative and engaging workshops. Experts and enthusiasts gather to share their knowledge on gardening techniques, floral arrangement, and sustainable practices. It’s not just about appreciating the beauty of the blooms; it’s an opportunity to deepen your connection with nature and gain insights into the delicate balance that sustains our planet.

Whether you’re a seasoned botanist, a casual nature lover, or someone simply seeking a respite from the urban hustle, the Floral Fair at Rama IX Park is an unmissable event.
