4.5 magnitude earthquake in Phitsanuloke province on Thursday morning

There was a 4.5 magnitude earthquake early this morning (Thursday), in the Bang Krathum district of Thailand’s northern province of Phitsanuloke. Its effects were felt in the nearby provinces of Phichit and Kamphaeng Phet.

The Earthquake Warning Centre, at the Department of Meteorology, said the quake was detected at 12.17am, with its epicentre about five kilometres underground in Pai Lom sub-district of Bang Krathum district.

People living in Bang Krathum sub-district, Sak Lek and Thap Khlo districts in Phichit reported, via the Earthquake Warning Centre website, that they felt their houses shake slightly and objects fell to the ground.

One tweeter says she didn’t dare go back to sleep after the quake.

There are no reports of injury or property damage.
