3 suspected ammunition traders linked to mall shooting suspect in custody

Police have arrested three people for allegedly selling ammunition to the suspect in the Siam Paragon shopping mall shooting and have seized a large cache of ammunition of various calibres.

The three suspects were only identified as “Passaraporn” (27), “Suthida” (24) and “Wutthipong” (19).

In raid on a house belonging to Passaraporn, in the Bang Khae district of Bangkok today (Saturday), police found two licensed handguns and a large cache of ammunition, including 2,765 rounds of 7.65 ammunition, 14 boxes of shotgun cartridges, a box of .357 caliber rounds, 11 boxes of .22 caliber rounds, seven boxes of .389 caliber rounds and four boxes of 9mm rounds. Each box contains 50-100 rounds of ammunition.

Separately, police apprehended Suthida in the Bang Saphan district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province, allegedly for illegally trading in ammunition. Another suspect, Wutthipong, was also arrested in Bang Saphan Noi district.

The two suspects are alleged to have links with traders who sold ammunition to the 14-year-old shooting suspect.

Earlier, two other suspects were arrested in the southern province of Yala, for allegedly selling a modified blank-firing replica handgun, used by the boy in the shooting at Siam Paragon on October 3rd, in which a Chinese national and a Myanmar national were shot dead and five other people were injured, two of them seriously.
