Thai-Belgian singer ‘Violette Wautier’, also known as ‘V Violette’, is now featured on a billboard in the middle of New York’s Times Square with #SpotifyEqual, a campaign celebrating 35 female artists from various countries around the world.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, Spotify unveiled the “Equal Hub” in March, with the main initiative of the campaign being to foster equality for women in the entertainment industry. Spotify Equal shines a spotlight on female artists on the streaming platform and highlights the female creators on the user’s homepage. The campaign has extended beyond the month of March and is being streamed globally.
Other featured artists included Indonesian singer and songwriter ‘NIKI’, Jasmine Sokko, a Singaporean electronic music singer-songwriter, who is the most-streamed Singaporean female artist on Spotify, Filipino musician Reese Lansangan, BIBI, a singer-songwriter from South Korea and Japanese rapper and pop musician, Chanmini. Another Thai artist, who also made it onto the big screen, is Bowky Lion, who was featured last April.
Violette Wautier debuted her singing career with a captivating cover of the Peter, Paul and Mary hit “Leaving on a Jet Plane” on The Voice Thailand, Season 2. She released her latest single ‘Gug Tua’ 3 weeks ago, which is now streaming on all platforms and has hit 28 million views on YouTube. She also released an all-English album called ‘Smoke and Glitter’ in 2020, containing many hits, such as ‘I’d do it again’ and ‘All I can do’, receiving the overwhelming approval of her fans all over the world.
The 27-year-old has also starred in many films and on TV, such as ‘Heart Attack’ in 2015, which gained her many fans. She also played the role of ‘Prim’ in the series ‘O-Negative’, a remake of a popular Thai film from 1998.
