Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida will make a state visit to the People’s Republic of China next week, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.
The visit, from November 13-17, marks the first by a reigning Thai monarch to China, highlighting the long-standing friendship and mutual respect between the two nations and is expected to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across all sectors.
According to an announcement by Thai Foreign Ministry, during the visit, Their Majesties will be officially welcomed at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where they will meet with President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan.
A state banquet will be held in Their Majesties’ honour.
Their Majesties will also grant an audience to Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
The King and the Queen will visit several cultural and religious landmarks, including paying homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha at Lingguang Temple in Beijing.
They will also visit institutions that represent China’s advancements in science, technology, innovation and education, including the Beijing Aerospace City, the Centre for Educational Technology and Resource Development and the Innovation Center of Humanoid Robotics.
The announcement said that, before returning to Thailand, Their Majesties will tour a special exhibition, titled “Golden Friendship, Shared Brilliance: A Special Exhibition Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Thai-Chinese Diplomatic Relations”, at the Palace Museum in Beijing.
2025 has been designated the “Golden Year of Friendship” between Thailand and China, underscoring five decades of enduring partnership.
This historic visit symbolises the close ties, mutual understanding and shared aspirations for peace and prosperity that continue to unite the two countries and their peoples.
